Kitchen Glass Wall Lights

Glass wall lights have a long history in kitchens — from the prismatic Holophane shades that lit Victorian and Edwardian factories to the clear glass globes that became a staple of industrial pub and restaurant design in the twentieth century. The fittings here are all handmade in Ireland by Mullan Lighting and cover the full range of glass types and forms.

Holophane and prismatic glass fittings — the Gadar, Fend, Dhaka, Hale, Mono, Nova, Stanley, and Portland — use moulded glass with a prismatic surface that refracts and disperses light evenly across a wide area while reducing glare. This is why Holophane glass has been used in working environments for over a century: the light quality is genuinely better than a plain glass shade. The Portland adds a brass concave disc behind the prismatic glass for a more decorative effect. The Eclipse uses a similar layered disc-and-glass approach, and is also available in a range of bold powder-coated colours.

Globe fittings — the Bragan, Riad, Bamako, Eden, Westport, Madison, Yerevan, Rehau, Straff, Eske, and Yaounde — range from 15cm to 25cm and come in clear, opal, and smoked glass. Clear globes make the bulb the visual centrepiece; a filament LED works best. Opal glass softens and diffuses the light. The Yaounde and Eske are double-globe fittings, giving two light sources from one wall point.

Reeded glass fittings — the Nehir and Neith — use a ribbed glass surface that breaks and refracts the light in soft, irregular patterns. The Nehir has a practical pull switch built into the fitting itself.

The Jam Jar uses a genuine Le Parfait preserving jar as the shade. (Also available as Pendant & Ceiling Light) The Lyx and Rebell are adjustable arm fittings suited to use as directed task lights or picture lights.

Most fittings use E27 bulbs (not included). All Mullan lights are assembled to order in Ireland — allow 15–21 working days.
