Living Room Lighting
The living room is where lighting has to work harder than anywhere else in the house. It needs to provide general illumination when the room is in full use, create atmosphere in the evening, highlight the things worth highlighting, and recede into the background when a film is on. A single ceiling light in the centre of the room can do none of these things particularly well on its own — good living room lighting is almost always a combination of sources at different heights and with different purposes.
The starting point for most living rooms is a ceiling fitting that handles the general light — a pendant, a multi-arm ceiling light, or a flush fitting depending on ceiling height and personal preference. From there, wall lights at a lower level add warmth and dimension that ceiling light alone can’t produce, and table lamps on sideboards or beside sofas bring the light down to where people actually sit. The combination of these layers is what makes a living room feel considered rather than simply lit.
The range here spans both the Mullan Lighting collection — handcrafted in Ireland in brass, ceramic, and glass — and the Sollux range made in Poland, which brings contemporary Scandi-influenced designs in natural wood, concrete, and modern finishes. Between them there is a living room lighting option for most interior styles, from traditional and period homes to contemporary open-plan spaces.
